A little about us
We began supplying the pet community as wholesalers in Maiden Newton in 1989. Three years later, we moved to Dorchester town centre and shifted our focus to serving pet owners directly. Our central location made it easier for customers to visit us and allowed us to deliver more quickly across the county.
Today, we are proud to remain a family-run business, supported by a team that genuinely cares about animals and the service we provide. With decades of combined experience—from farming backgrounds and hands-on animal care to many years in the pet trade—we bring both knowledge and passion to everything we do.
We are committed to offering high-quality products, sharing our expertise, and delivering the very best experience for every customer. Friendly, honest advice is at the heart of our approach, and we take pride in building lasting relationships with the people and pets we serve.
Animals are at the centre of everything we do, and it’s this shared passion that brings us together as a team.
Meet the team!

Nick
Nick comes from a long line of farmers on both sides of his family, an upbringing that instilled in him a deep-rooted love for all animals. Alongside his dogs, Gus and Willow—both proud members of our Jack Russell team here at Parkhouse—he brings that passion into everything he does.
Nick has also enjoyed competing in triathlons (a sport that demands a remarkable amount of effort—then multiplies it by three!). One of his greatest achievements was completing the Ironman Lanzarote.

Jane
Farming runs through Jane’s veins. Growing up on a farm naturally led to years of hands-on experience, shaping her deep understanding and love of animals. She joined Parkhouse in 1994 and has been “Mother Parkhouse Pets” ever since, loving every minute of working with customers and their pets.
While Jane cares for all animals, she had a special place in her heart for Molly, our much-loved Parkhouse mascot—a labradoodle full of character who sadly passed away in 2026. At home, Jane has a black cat called Max, who got on like a house on fire with Molly and Dotty, our Jack Russell.
Jane’s passion for animal care continues to drive the team at Parkhouse Pet Supplies. And while she knows an incredible amount about the pet trade, she’s always eager to keep learning.

Laurence
A Dorchester man through and through, Laurence’s lifelong connection to the town and surrounding countryside is reflected in his love of walking. He’s also a keen darts player (or so he says—this claim remains unverified!).
Laurence has been in the pet trade since 1979, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge that is invaluable to both our team and the many customers who have come to trust him over the years.

Rory
Animals have always been a big part of Rory’s life. From working with calves to breeding show rabbits and guinea pigs since 2005, his passion for animal care has been there from the start.
Rory’s best friend is Buddy, his Jack Russell, who is also Dotty’s brother.
After leaving school, Rory worked at and helped manage a boarding kennel, where he gained valuable experience in dog behaviour and training. During this time, he also had the opportunity to teach agility to young dogs.
