2018 Main Divide Chardonnay

Burgundian white wine tradition revived on New Zealand’s South Island Main Divide is the local name for the Southern New Zealand Alps, the backbone of New Zealand’s South Island. From there, from the Waipara Valley, comes the excellent grape material for this Chardonnay. The vineyards were chosen according to their special quality and the ability to show regional character in the wine. The winemaking method for this Chardonnay is the traditional Burgundian one. The grapes were harvested by hand, carefully pressed without destemming and the juice was immediately filled into French barriques for natural fermentation. There was also a yeast set storage and a second, malolactic fermentation. The wine was then stored in barrels for 12 months before bottling.   And this is how the Main Divide Chardonnay tastes Beautifully fruity and inviting, the Main Divide Chardonnay shows delicate aromas of peach, apricot, lemon and fig, paired with vanilla, hazelnut and a toast note as well as a hint of flickering minerality. In the mouth it is juicy and round, wonderfully balanced and intense, supported by a pleasant creaminess and refreshing acidity. The overall impression ends in a long, complex finish.
