The Light Flatterer of Niagara Falls EastDell Wines is one of the lines of the Winery Diamond Estate from Canada. The wines all bear the “VQA Niagara Peninsula” seal. VQA stands for “Vintners Quality Alliance”, an appellation and regulation system for original Canadian wines that guarantees quality and authenticity. The vineyards are located directly on the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario. Surrounded by Niagara Falls, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, the climate in summer is mild and therefore ideal for viticulture beyond ice wine. The Gamay grape variety, which is mainly known from the fruity light wines of Beaujolais, was brought to Ontario here at EastDell and interpreted in canadian style. After harvesting, the grapes were gently pressed with a modern pneumatic press and fermented on the skins in steel tanks for 12 days. Afterwards, the wine was allowed to mature for 8 months in French or American oak barrels. The barrels were half new and half 2 years old to achieve a beautiful blend of fruit character and subtle oak tones.   And this is how the EastDell Wines Gamay Noir 2016 tastes In the nose of the EastDell Gamay Noir you can immediately perceive the fine fruity and spicy aromas of black cherry, currant, black peppercorns and cinnamon. On the palate it is relatively light and fresh, with pleasant acidity and a very soft tannin. It is recommended to serve it slightly chilled.
